Project Overview

  • Client: Soundhouse
  • Location: Freshfield Road, Brighton
  • Project Type:  Loft conversion works. All elevations
  • Timescale: 16 weeks

Scaffolding Requirements

A full front, side and rear scaffold erected here for loft conversion works.

The customer had decided that they would like to install a loft conversion to provide additional rooms to their terraced home.

Soundhouse are one of the leading loft conversion specialists in Brighton and surrounding areas.

Nick and his team called in our services to provide suitable scaffold solutions for their needs.

A full scaffold wrap was required which included a loading bay first on the front elevation to allow their operatives to stack equipment on site.

How we approached this project

1. Planning and Safety Considerations:

Planning scaffold arrangements on this property is very straight forward. Our team have planned and executed numerous projects very similar to this one over the years.

When we were in the process of planning our scaffold service for this residential property, we had to ensure we paid careful attention to detail.

We ensured that all scaffolding is erected with the utmost precision and in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Safety on site is our top priority, and we are committed to providing a secure working environment for both our team and the residents.

By delivering high-quality scaffolding, we added support to the successful completion of this loft conversion while maintaining our standards of excellence.

  • Design and planning
  • Logistic planning
  • Supervision during erection & dismantle

Our team working alongside Nick and the Soundhouse team planned successfully to erect & dismantle the scaffolding within a 16-week window. With successful planning and hitting deadlines in place.

2. Engineering and Scaffold Design:

When on our initial survey of this project our team soon realised our CAD design system would be able to cover the scaffold compliance document for this project.

Key design elements include:

  • Building survey – Our in-house engineer surveying the site and taking house and scaffold dimensions
  • Structure safety – Anchor ties, drilling into wall areas and butting neighbouring property wall on side elevation
  • Platform size – The design engineer had to ensure that the independent scaffold width, height & length was suitable for all operatives to work on and always ensure a high level of safety. This also included a wide front elevation platform for loading bay space.

3. Installation of scaffold on site (The installation process was as follows):

  • Installing working area barriers and signage at working zones
  • Walking equipment into the site from the designated loading bay
  • Erection of all scaffold on site
  • Installation of anchor ties
  • Providing evidence of tie loads + certificates
  • Installation of brick guards

Once the work was complete, all scaffold is dismantled in reverse order.

Our in-house team provided the following on completion:

  • Hand over certificate

NO scaffold or inspections required on site. Soundhouse have their own in-house team that deal with inspections.

We completed this successful scaffolding project on this terraced home in Brighton for our valued clients Soundhouse.

The project ran smoothly from start to finish, with our team ensuring that all scaffolding was erected efficiently and safely, providing a solid platform for the contractor to carry out their work.

We worked closely with Nick, the Soundhouse team and the homeowner to ensure minimal disruption and a seamless process, allowing the project to progress on time. It was a pleasure to work with Soundhouse as always, and we are proud to have contributed to a job well done for both their team and the property owner.
